Tracks To Find Exclusively On Soundcloud !!!
Some of you lot need to pay DUE RESPECTS to SoundCloud.
(Emphasis on the due - overdue, even)
SoundCloud was there for you, back then, during the lofi era where none of your favourite artists knew how to set up Spotify or get links to Apple Music. It was there when you wanted to listen to unreleased snippets from Playboi Carti that wouldn't be allowed anywhere else. More than ever, it was there for gatekeeping - heavily. What better way to gatekeep than to tell your friends that you "don't know the actual artist" and you "found it from a random SoundCloud account". Untraceable, right? Foolproof, yeah?
Not today,
sorry.
Today, we're going through some of my favourites that are only found on Soundcloud. You're gonna have to find a new excuse, buddy. Once your friend finds out about these, you're never gonna stop hearing about it.
In SoundCloud fashion, instead of my usual quote-from-the-song caption, I'm gonna add a comment from someone who's listened to it too. Something that reflects on the vibeeee or feel of the music. Maybe it'll help you choose what you want to listen to today. Maybe you'll add some to your SoundCloud playlists? I hope so!
Lets go!!
1. Star of Xenojin - Densetsu no Kyojin
"This is music from another planet"
This one is perfect for anyone who's into really spacey, martian-vibe kinda music. Would be a good fit in a playlist next to "Messages From the Stars" or Star of Xenojin's other song - "Where Tf Time Goin Mang". The repeating guitar makes you go a liiiiittle insane, but in a good way, like you're stuck in a loop and the only thing you have left is the sound of the strumming and the sight of Earth from a rocket ship. Beyond slept on music, and anyone that recognises Star of Xenojin's work will tell you that it's a discovery that would make even the greatest explorers envious. 10/10
2. ARCHANGEL - Frenesi Goin Dumb In The Gabbertrap Remix (Rico Nasty x Machinegirl Blend)
"Gahhh damn!"
Archangel is a SoundCloud artist that specialises in these hella niche crossovers and just generally insanely good DJ sets. Her remix here, which is a combination of Rico Nasty (my loveeee) and Machinegirl (<3) is the epitome of hype and energy. Imagine this blasting full volume on some bluetooth speakers at a function, or rave, or club - smoke machine on, and with flashing strobe lights that make you look like you're in slo-mo. Now close your eyes, put this song on, and immerse yourself in that scene. What a dream.
3. Memphis - Care4U (The Marias cover)
"Fantastic vibe, crispy percussion, smooth vocals, thanks for the perfect hangover remedy"
With this being my second blog post showing a cover of "Care for You", I think my bias for The Marias is showing (lol). That aside, I will forever stand by the fact that it's a song worth playing, alongside its replications. This one puts a much more modern twist on the song, and having a masc voice on the track puts an interesting spin on things with a slightly changed perspective. It's a great rendition of a great song, and should suit your tastes even if you've heard the original and it wasn't your cup of tea.
4. Nutek - Paradise City
"ITS MAKING ME AAAAAAAYSPDOWOWSKQLAALALAAPAATTSQTDIESUWISUE7EW6A7S7DUFWIWYFIAAA"
If you're into Azaelia Banks' slightly less popular songs - "Miss Amor" and "Soda", you'll definitely love this (and if you haven't heard of those, I beg, LISTEN TO THEM RIGHT NOW!!! Underrated doesn't even begin to cover how underappreciated they are). Listening to this cute mix of texting slang and singing about hanging out with a guy at a beach house will make you feel like an early 2000s babe ready to hit LA, young and free and just messing around. It's such a fun bop and would be great for the background music to a holiday photo comp.
5. 9NOVA*✧・゚:* 0 - Body!
"W Song"
I think, out of all the songs listed, this one aligns the most with my generation's type of music. He kinda aligns himself in between the likes of Lucki or Yeat's calmer songs, though his tracks kinda bounce around different styles - he's not one to fit into one box. This one in particular, however, is a VIBEEEE. No thoughts, no sentimental stuff, just "im catchin a body or two". Class.
Oh my god this so interesting! I’m so glad someone has finally written a topic on this!!!
